A full house heard inspirational mountaineer and adventurer
Stephen Venables describe his death defying exploits scaling
some of the world's highest peaks. Engaging, passionate and
lively, Venables' enthusiasm for his subject was infectious and
his tales were illustrated by some breathtaking slides.

I have been inundated with parents and pupils saying how much
they enjoyed your talk on Thursday evening. It was a highlight
of the year. An extraordinary story is one thing; a great story
teller is another and you have both. Thank you. I suspect your
words have acted as an inspiration to a number of young people
who were listening. The same is true of your books, which have
provided me with so much pleasure and similar inspiration over
the past years.

I am writing to you on behalf of the Friends Committee and
everyone who was privileged enough to attend your talk in the
Parish Centre. I have had nothing but compliments from everyone
I have spoken to. Whilst everyone thought the whole evening was
a great success, there is no doubt that it all pivoted on your
outstanding presentation. I think the words I have heard most
often are “inspirational” and “awesome” and I concur totally
with that. I have done many presentations in my past business
life and so recognise how much enthusiasm you have managed to
project through your material. That is what allowed your
audience to ‘re-live’ your experiences with you and come away
with a strong sense of excitement and adventure.
Anyway, the main message is ‘thank you so much for a memorable
evening’. You have helped us with our fund raising for the
Parish Centre but, more importantly, you have helped to enhance
our reputation for bringing high quality, value for money events
to the community.

Stephen gave an interesting and motivational speech to 40 of the
most
senior financial managers from major banks and trading houses in
Europe,
as an after dinner speaker. Not only were they totally focussed
on the
talk and wonderful slides, they were still going after many
questions
and several have now asked how they can start climbing !
Quite amazing for people who normally have a 5 minute attention
span.
Client feedback was uniformly positive and many commented on how
refreshing it was to witness an 'out of the box' speech rather
than one

Stephen attended our Global Corporate
Division's weekend conference and
his story of how he climbed Everest was an object lesson in what
can be
achieved through sheer determination, and a real inspiration.
His
presentation will be remembered for a long time and serves as a
constant
reminder to us that effective teamwork needs to be at the centre
of any
successful organisation.

A short note to thank you for the engrossing
presentation you gave to our European Leadership forum. The use
of your expedition experiences to show the essence of teamwork
gave us a wholly new perspective which was most illuminating.

As the keynote speaker, Stephen set an enthusiastic tone for the
whole Convention. His message about the importance of teamwork
and of striving to meet goals and overcome obstacles was
inspiring to our delegates. Our association and members struggle
constantly with negative attitudes and Stephen’s positive
message was a welcome relief from the barrage of pessimistic
thinking we encounter on the prairies. I would highly recommend
